Who says there's nothing new under the beverage sun? Snow is a lightly carbonated beverage flavored with mint. Refreshing on its own, it also mixes nicely with your favorite spirit - snowjito anyone? Each 12-ounce bottle has 112 calories and sells for about $2.30 at gourmet markets such as Cravings in Jericho, Kitchen Kabaret in East Hills, Town Gourmet in Hewlett and Berry Sweet Farms in Long Beach, and in beverage distributors such as Massapequa Beverage in Massapequa Park, Syosset Beverage in Syosset and Sweet Tomato in Glen Cove.

Mint – Mint and mint flavoring is a hot trend in the beverage category. The Mojitos and Caipirinhas craze has kicked up the interest and mint martinis and mint-lemonade are the hot new cocktails. New mint flavored beverages are Metromint (water with a touch of pesticide-free peppermint for flavor) and Snow (a lightly sweet mint beverage.)

ìOn the East Coast is Snow from former Wall Streeter Stu Strumwasser. Packed in glass bottles in the classic soda style, the lightly carbonated and cane-sugar-sweetened water is all natural, with about 112 calories in the 12-ounce bottle. Strumwasser has taken the cool-club beverage route, with product roll-out beginning in hip New York restaurants. But you don't have to wait until it hits your town, because it's available online for $22.99 for a 12-pack.î

“Just launched in NYC this month, Snow is a new sparkling mint beverage that we’re hearing about as an alternative cocktail mixer. We have seen it around town at upscale grocers such as Garden of Eden and at nightspots such as Cielo. We love the idea of adding mint to drinks, and Snow offers the opportunity to create refreshing cocktails like their recommended ‘Snowjito’ (Snow, rum, freshly squeezed lime, and sprig of mint).”

“Snow, a mint-flavored soda launched earlier this month, is making its way into city gourmet stores. Like Hersh, company founder Stu Strumwasser, a former Wall Streeter who concocted the first versions of Snow in his Horatio Street kitchen, says he "set out to make a drink for adults." A longtime vegetarian who eschews artificial ingredients, Strumwasser calls most soda "disgusting." "It's way too sweet," he says. "Adults don't want to drink that crap anymore." In contrast, he touts the "subtlety" of his own lightly sweetened drink, while his Web site credits it with "all the complexity and sophistication of a fine wine." "There have always been sophisticated alcoholic drinks - what's happening now is that amarket has evolved for more sophisticated soft drinks," he says.

“Snow Beverages introduces Snow, an all-natural sparkling mint drink developed for those with a more discerning palette. Unlike most sodas that feature a single note flavor, Snow starts with a kick of peppermint and spearmint flavors and ends with a creamy finish. Unlike tonic or club soda, it tastes delicious because peppermint is one of the primary natural ingredients…

BevNET.com Review, July15, 2005
“As the label says, Snow is a sparkling mint beverage that features a clean and crisp peppermint flavor. The use of carbonation and mint combine to create a one of a kind flavor that could be consumed on its own or used as a mixer. Either way, the product is light and refreshing, with a very natural and cleansing mint flavor. The packaging is very striking
and well executed…”
